Also, since we're human... you may have noticed that our subject line A/B test went wrong last week and some of you got the previous week's title. Sorry! If you thought it was a duplicate and want to read the issue, it's here.
Let's dive in...

Learn a language while watching YouTube. While Meta might be close to building an AI babel fishΒ for their metaverse, in the real world we'll probably still want to speak to each other. Film Complexity helps you to learn a language so you can speak to more people, via a slick Chrome extension.

Search for music festivals. Since AI music is now a thing (or is it?), visiting real music festivals seems more relevant than ever. Finding the right festival to visit can be hard though, so this site exists to find festivals featuring your favourite artist or genre, or in a certain date window.
Note: while we love the idea and functionality of this site, the design looks very 2007 and it only seems to work well in Chrome. Hopefully the maker will update it if they get some traction.

Incredible drone photography of 20th Century skyscrapers. In a world where AI is now winning photo contests, real photos of buildings that actually exist are refreshing. The accompanying bio of each highrise is also very interesting reading.

π What we're reading
Alex Brogan's newsletter is one of the best sources of ideas and mental frameworks we've seen. The January article withΒ 10 Mental Models That Will Make You Smarter is a great example of how clear, brief newsletters should be done - it not only summarizes concepts we've all heard of, like the Curse of Knowledge, but makes clear how to use them.
Since we now know about the Consensus-Contrarian matrix too, maybe the contrarian, anti-AI slant of this issue will help us generate outsize returns? π€

π― Cure boredom
The double pendulum is almost uniquely chaotic, which feels comforting in a seemingly well-controlled, AI-generated world. While this may be a simulation that doesn't quite compare to a real double pendulum, it's still fun to play with.
